Costa Rica's World Cup hero, Joel Campbell, has confirmed that he intends to start next season at Arsenal.
The 21-year-old scored once and created another as the Central American side caused the first upset of the World Cup, beating Uruguay 3-1 in Fortaleza.
Campbell signed for Arsenal three years ago but has spent the entire duration of his Gunners career out on loan, most recently with Greek champions Olympiakos, but hopes that his exploits in Brazil this summer will be enough to convince Arsene Wenger that his long-term future lies in north London.
"Of course I have to go back because I have a contract with Arsenal," he told reporters after the game on Saturday, "but the most important thing just now is my country and the World Cup."
Edinson Cavani scored the first goal of Saturday's game from the penalty spot but Costa Rica roared back in the second half, with Oscar Duarte and Marcos Urena joining Campbell on the scoresheet.
"Today was excellent for me but it would have come to naught without the contribution of my colleagues," the Arsenal youngster added. "Everyone lived up to their responsibilities. I tried to do my best to score goals and my colleague supported me.
"We have to take one step after another. We have difficult matches ahead but this will give us impetus."

Hodgson confident England can qualify
The Three Lions were beaten by Italy in Manaus but the 66-year-old remains bullish, while he also defended striker Wayne Rooney, who was criticised for his performance
Roy Hodgson remains confident England can reach the knockout rounds at the World Cup, despite losing to Italy in their Group D opener.
England were narrowly beaten by their European rivals on Saturday as goals from Claudio Marchisio and Mario Balotelli condemned Hodgson's men to a 2-1 defeat in Manaus.
Daniel Sturridge equalised eight minutes before half-time but England were unable to find a way back into the match after Balotelli nodded home in the 50th minute.
But, speaking after the match, Hodgson insisted that the performance was a positive one, and the former Liverpool manager believes the team can progress to the Round of 16, with games against Uruguay and Costa Rica to come.
"We were hoping for a perfect start, but we don't live in a perfect world," Hodgson told the BBC.
"I thought we played so well in the second half. I thought we would get back into it and maybe go on to win it because it was a quite dominant second-half performance.
"The positive we can take is that is the best I have seen the team play in my time with them and it is very good to know that we have players who will make us a much better team moving forward.
"We had several situations near the end where we were desperate for that goal and we got into good crossing situations, good shooting positions and we didn't take advantage of it. I have to say we are a young team and we will improve moving forward."
Hodgson added: "It's very tough to accept that we have lost the game, but the performance gives us great confidence going forward. We can do well against Uruguay and Costa Rica.
"I have great confidence that we can qualify."
Hodgson also leapt to the defence of under-fire forward Wayne Rooney, who was deployed on the left wing as Sturridge led the line for England.
Rooney set up England's equaliser, delivering an inch-perfect cross for Sturridge to slam home, but the Manchester United star, who squandered a golden opportunity to end his World Cup drought in the second half, was still criticised for his overall display.
"I think it is harsh to say he didn't look comfortable on the left. I thought he did quite well and he set up our goal," Hodgson added.
"It is looking for things to say he didn't play well in that position because I think he did."
